BBVA INNOVATION LAB
1 - 8
BBVA Compass bank prides itself on being an industry innovator and excels at developing and implementing a broad range of technological products and solutions. The BBVA Compass innovation lab was conceptualized as a space to demonstrate these emerging technologies to key members of the BBVA community. The space is discretely housed in a vintage white modernist high rise office building in central Houston. The shell of the concrete and glass structure is in pristine condition and acts as the backdrop for the design intervention. The space is organized around a serpentine internally lit accordion tyvek wall system made by Molo in Vancouver. The brief called for the space to have a limited duration and the Molo product allows BBVA to reuse the system in future settings. Visitors are guided along a prescribed path where branded wall planes display different aspects of the emerging technologies. This sequence allows for attention to be directed and focused on the presenter at hand. The culmination of the experience ends in a lounge and conference setting anchored by a custom BBVA blue branded area rug. The space was conceived and built in a short five week time frame including several furniture items that were designed specifically for the space. Details are present throughout the space including the custom blue stitching on the white ottomans and the seamless integration of laptop stands and full concealment of wired connectivity. The space has been received so favorably that it continues to function well beyond its intended life.
