In many homes the humble powder room is an after-thought,
outfitted with easy neutrals, a couple “good” towels and maybe
a piece of art that got demoted from a more important room. But
in 39-year-old Kelie Mayfield’s Rice-area house—where the guest
bath’s stark-white walls and shelving and general orderliness (that
even includes artfully placed rolls of toilet paper) are vividly off set
by a shelf full of matching red vases—it’s a metaphor for her style.
