Although most people assume the hotel is named after George H.W. Bush, who maintained an apartment above the library at Texas A&M, it is not solely a nod to this great George. The hotel also pays homage to leading Georges who have been innovators in their respective industries. George Washington, George Harrison, George Pullman — a famous American engineer and industrialist most notable for his railcar design — and George Mitchell, just to name a few. Throughout The George™, you will find details of the namesakes woven into the decor and overall theme. The waitstaff at the hotel’s restaurant Poppy, for example, wear colorful socks, a signature style of former President Bush.
