NARRATIVE

An amalgamation of architectural styles needing repairs from the damages of Hurricane Harvey and desperate for a unified aesthetic, Bayou on the Bend was taken under a complete renovation, from modifications to the exterior, a lower pool deck, main entry and common amenity spaces, as well as new leasing offices, fitness and corridor upgrades. The newly remodeled building takes cues from the Parisian balconies already present, as well as its surrounding environment along Buffalo Bayou. The exterior’s bold striping pattern serves as a beacon attracting new residents and spilling from the crisp architectural moves are soft moments of greenery, echoing the surrounding Memorial Park. Various screening elements divide the open area into distinct zones; dining, play, respite and lounge. Just inside the entry, a central counter-height communal table serves as a gathering or working place, with the ability to transform into a comfortable dining room at mealtimes and for evening affairs. Beyond the entry lobby and situated throughout are various table games that draw residents in to play and socialize with one another. Nestled behind a wood slat wall, in one corner, is a secluded and intimate library, complete with a fireplace and surrounding built-ins. A custom built-in window seating along the perimeter affords residents vantages of the abundant greenery of the thriving bayou ecosystem
