“Indiana Street house is a luxe rental in the heart of montrose” – Cool Spaces ABC 13

Thoughtfully designed and impeccably detailed, Serenely Dwell is a modern retreat nestled in the heart of Houston.  Designed by MaRS for developer and builder, Jonathan Farb, the 3,800 SF bachelor house sits on a corner lot in Montrose surrounded by immense live oaks.  Deeply engaged with the site, Serenely Dwell blurs the line between inside and outside.  The exterior walls of the main living space slide open and, with a zero edge detail from living room to pool to grass, create a great room that blends the interior living with the outdoor space.  The second level bedroom cantilevers over the pool, creating a second outdoor living area below. The ground level windows sit low to the floor framing the manicured landscaping, while the second level windows hug the ceiling to capture the expansive treetops.  In fact, all views have a focal point either to the landscape, water, or art.  An avid collector, the house also acts as a gallery, showcasing Farb’s extensive and varied collection of art.  And while Serenely Dwell’s primary function is to provide a place of respite for Farb, it is also a house for entertaining, with ample dinning and entertaining space and a kitchen that is both functional and detailed to have everything tucked away when not in use.  This focus on the details, allowing for everything to be effortlessly concealed, creates a serenity within the space, which is how the house acquired its moniker: Serenely Dwell.
