AFTER WINTER CARPET

NARRATIVE

These custom carpets were a design collaboration with EGE, the international Danish carpet company.  The design of the two carpet tiles were inspired by trees upon awakening after winter.  The barren branches overlap one another juxtaposed against the patina background not unlike a cloudy winter’s day.  The pattern of the carpet tiles are in a random pattern so the branches twist and turn upon one another.  One tile with a darker night sky background and the other with a lighter daytime background.  These two patterns are meant to be next to one another in a linear space to create the day and night juxtaposition.  The carpet tiles are 37.8”x37.8”, large format 100% Polyamide, Militron dyed, class 33, commercial heavy as per EN1307, antisoil treated with cushion back.
