MaRS was tapped to design the public areas and define the units’ plans and interiors for the luxury condominium the Mond at the Museums. A sculpture of articulating volumes, The Mond is nestled in a revitalizing neighborhood full of history, culture, and ingenuity. The eight-story mid-rise is a collection of 20 stylish residences featuring open layouts, gracious indoor and alfresco living areas. Close collaboration with the finest manufacturers and purveyors adorns each home with the same high level of craft and attention to detail as its design and construction.

MaRS also personalized a top-floor penthouse as a serene oasis featuring the couple’s growing art collection. The architectural moves and refined materials were distilled to showcase an abundance of natural light, dynamic city backdrop, and numerous artworks. The apartment enters into a soaring 22’ high volume with a clerestory running the length of the great room and accentuated by MaRS’s custom floor-to-ceiling installation of floating dichroic glass ‘shelves’ which cast colorful shadows that dance throughout the day in the clerestory’s light. Beyond, the all-white Eggersman kitchen acts as spatial divider, with soft light casting upward from its floating drywall box. The great room features a Lepere parchment paper chandelier over the dining table, richly textured concrete columns, and a see-through fireplace uniting inside and outside living spaces. A long hallway and unilateral venetian plaster wall separate public from private. The Penthouse at The Mond is a private gallery in the sky and this couple’s calming retreat from their otherwise active lifestyle.
